Small and easy to carry. But it has added functions that make it very useful. Only has a small "peephole" viewfinder, but I still like it anyway.

I bought this camera to replace a canon digital SLR which was also a good camera but for me, too big and cumbersome to carry. This G11 has lots of features similar to the SLR but without the weight. I am enjoying using it. The picture quality is extremely good and it is small enough to tuck into my handbag if I want. Because the viewing screen can be reversed and tucked away, it is always safe from damage which is also a great feature of this camera. I would recommend this camera to anyone who ia after many more features than a point and shoot, but with a size and weight which makes it almost as portable.
Even though Canon has the G12 thru G16 and also the G1X in these Powershot - the G11 is still the best value for money especially if you need the Macro mode. It's a good camera although the later models have a faster video system so if you take lots of videos the later versions would be better. The G11 and G12 have the same Underwater Housing - so go for one of them for Underwater shots. The main reasons I have the G11 is the lighter weight, the Macro mode and reasonably priced Underwater Housing.
It takes absolutely amazing photos, great special features to play around with. Definately not just a point and shoot camera which is great for people who want to get creative
