  • Excellent, robust and reliable 35mm SLR

I bought my Nikon FE as a reliable film travel camera and it has not let me down. I also take a DSLR with me to but I love the quality and feel of 35mm film, and it takes a great picture. This camera seems to operate in pretty much all temperatures, and in most conditions. I don't believe it is weather sealed but the quality of the construction does mean it will keep working longer than most entry level DSLRs give the same conditions The camera works with all but the very latest G Nikon Nikkor lenses (this is where the aperture is controlled exclusively by the camera). I would also be careful with the light metering with fresh pair of LR44 batteries, it seems to over expose a little (I compensated by at least -0.5 EV). After many months and rolls of film with very similar lighting it ...

  • I love this camera

This is my second Nikon FE and this one is much cleaner then my current one. When I've received the camera the exposure needle was stuck, the film door pin was bent so the door was wiggling and the focus screen was B-Type which I found very hard to focus with. I've fixed all of the problems very easily, fixed the exposure needle with a tweezers, fixed the film door pin, replaced the focus screen with a K-Type and replaced the batteries with a new set and voila, it is ready to go. I bought this camera because it was cheap and I've heard that it has unlimited exposure feature and I loved it. The view finder magnification is x0.83 which is much much bigger than my D600's but the coverage is %93 which is relatively small. The camera is cleverly designed. The way the exposure compensation ...

  • If you love vintage and creative charm then do not hesitate.... BUY ONE!

I decided to look for one of these cameras as a little project to help broaden my photography skills and understanding and also as a bit of creative fun. I currently have a Nikon d7000 that can quite easily make my photography look however I want it to with the help of Photoshop and filters, but I wanted to try something that had REAL vintage charm! Digital photography is so easy nowadays.. You can click away 2,000 photos and simply delete them if they're not perfect in a matter of seconds. But with a film camera you can't do that, it really makes you think about the shot and you take great care to make sure it's perfect. Because you only have a limited amount of exposures and of course, you can't see what you've captured until they are developed! But this for me is the beauty of it ...

  • I like this camera at first sight.

Please read review www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/fe.htm "The Nikon FE is one of my favorite Nikon cameras of all time. The Nikon FE one of the most flexible, most intelligently designed and most perfect cameras ever made. All that, and you'd be hard pressed to spend more than $100 on one. It's easy to shoot it digitally as I show in the example. The FE just lets me make great photos and never gets in the way. That's critical, but not something you'll ever read off a data sheet. I love the FE. If you are thinking about getting one, just do it."
