A Challenge!
I have purchased this classic camera, a copy of my first serious camera I bought in the late 70s. Having converted enthusiastically to digital cameras long time ago I gave into nostalgia out of curiosity. What a shock. The image quality is extremely high, but it also highlighted how lazy I had become. I have got used to shooting a sequence of photos, selecting the best and deleting the ‘rubbish’. Not an option in the ‘olden days’. You had to carefully consider composition and exposure etc before pressing the button, waiting until the film was fully exposed, waiting for it to be developed and printed before discovering if you had succeeded. I am hoping that I shall regain more discipline in terms of consciously being critical of composition etc. Having said that I do find it to be more ... My Olympus 35mm SLR
I have digital cameras but wanted a 35mm camera to photograph eagles, vultures and wading birds which we see in Asturias,Northern Spain where we spend a lot of the year. The Olympus OM was ahead of its time when first marketed. The lens are superb and I have been able to purchase a Zoom lens from Ebay to supplement the camera.I had an SLR camera some years ago and the ease of use soon came back. I have, again through Ebay, been able to obtain 35mm film and get it developed quickly and economically.This model has a manual control added which is useful for bird photography. Eminently satisfied with my OM10
I bought my first OM10 (second-hand!) in 1990, and it has been in more or less constant use ever since. Apart from a little tender love and care (and regular gentle cleaning), this well-built camera has asked for nothing in return in the way of repairs, but continues after (probably) almost 30 years to give excellent service, robust and easily handled as it is. There is no end to the pleasure my old OM10 has given me - and literally no counting the nice pictures it has produced. The ease of use makes an OM10 the ideal camera for a beginner; set to AUTO, you focus and press the the button. On MANUAL, with the adapter, it should satisfy the requirements of even ambitious amateur photographers. Also, the vast array of high quality Zuiko lenses for the OM camera system makes an Olympus an ... Fearing, however, that not even an Olympus OM10 might last forever, I began looking for a replacement and/or spare camera. I tried several other brands, but finally decided on another OM10; familiarity breeds loyalty, and several decades of reliable and problem-free service was a recommendation not to be ignored. Besides, the OM10 does have a nice solid feel to it. A British eBay vendor recently provided me with a rather newer OM10 body (seven digit serial number) at the very fair price of approx. £20, including a leather case and strap. As might be expected, the light seals needed renewing, but that is a reasonably easy job with the excellently designed OM10 body; otherwise, this "new" camera body was in near mint condition: everything functioning smoothly, all shutter speeds true, and viewfinder and mirror spotless. I fully expect it to last me (if not silver halide photography) out - and I shan't be at all surprised if my first OM10 lasts just as long.

Although I now have several digital cameras, my favourites being the Fujifilm XS1 and the Olympus Stylus 1, I still have my original Olympus OM10. Excellent as digital cameras are, there's still something hugely satisfying about shooting film. In fact I have bought two more OM10s and use all three regularly. If you've never used an OM10, buy one, you won't regret it. They're ideal for street photography, incredibly tactile with an excellent 50mm Zuiko lens and extremely satisfying and smooth manual focus function. While they may be almost 40 years old they still work as faultlessly as they did when new and give the distinct impression of still doing so 40 years hence!
