    as good a starter camera as any

    as someone who has just picked up photography as a hobbyist, i feel this camera is good enough to get some real great shots. it has a deep enough level of control when in manual mode to get creative but is still simple enough to operate, as long as you understand the relationship between all the controls.

    Great value entry level professional camera with stunning picture quality

    This camera was purchased for my daughter who has a great interest in creative photography and is thinking about pursuing a career in that direction. Though the camera is considered to be entry level it is capable of professional quality pictures as good as any pro camera. Only the size is limited by its 14.2mp (which is more than enough for good sized prints) but all the features are endless not to mention the bonus of outstanding movie capability thrown in. The downside for me perhaps there are too many features on the menu which make it a bit gimmicky

    Superb continuous capture

    Overall, I love this model of Nikon for being able to record in HD video. I don't like the of the video is .mov because it's hard to find free software to edit it unless I convert it to other format where it can down-graded the quality of the recorded video and even enlarge the original size. Not practical if I need to convert the video every time. I've tried the continuous capture mode and it's awesome. The remainder of the features, still in progress to be learn as I'm new to dslr.

    Great camera.

    My first real digital SLR camera and it is great. Very easy to use, it even has an instruction mode built into it. Great for beginners like me !!! The main lens is a bit limited in its depth but get an 80-200mm tele lens and it is fantastic. I also have the battery pack which means it lasts for ages. All round a great package.
